This past weekend I was fortunate to enjoy a 12 ounces of Pliny the Younger. I don’t know enough about beer to write about it effectively or intelligently. Especially not this beer. It is the most coveted beer in the U.S. You never know when or where it’ll show up, but when you find out – and if you love beer – you stop what you’re doing and you go get it. It’s the beer that should be on your bucket list.
Do you have a bucket list?
I don’t. But I’m gonna start one.
1. Drink Pliny the Younger.
2. Go Skydiving.
3. Go to Ireland and/or Venice.
4. Be a good friend.
You might think #4 is a cop-out, but I think it’s legit. When I kick the bucket, Pliny the Elder and skydiving and my world travelling exploits won’t amount to much. But, if I do good. If I take good care. If I’m a good husband, father, friend. That’ll matter.
I enjoyed those 12 ounces with 3 great friends. Truly great friends. The kind of friends that will take you to the airport late at night. The kind of friends that will require you to read a book that will change your life. The kind of friends that remember why a certain song was important 9 years ago. The kind of friends that will go out of their way to make sure you get a taste of Pliny the Younger.
I want to be that kind of friend. When I kick the bucket, I want people to remember that I mattered. And not just because I got to taste the most coveted beer in the U.S.
But, damn…it was yummy.
